Since 1992, the European Journalism Centre (EJC) has been building a sustainable, ethical and innovative future for journalism through grants, events, training and media development. We are an international non-profit, headquartered in The Netherlands, that connects journalists with new ideas, skills and people.
The EJC, with the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, created the Freelance Journalism Assembly, a programme designed to empower and connect the freelance community in Europe. The Assembly is part of the EJC long-term strategy to enable a strong structure around freelance journalism.
The multidisciplinary Assembly team hails from different countries and cultures. We believe equality, generosity, curiosity, empathy, and emotional intelligence contribute to better communication and listening. This is the basis of growth and positive sustainable change in an industry that is being challenged in many ways.
